Better together

When it comes to protecting children, we're better together. That's one of the main things I've learned after 30+ years working with Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) and Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs). 

I've also learned, and experienced firsthand, how CAC and MDT leaders who spend their days collaborating and caring for others often feel alone and overwhelmed. That can make even the most meaningful job feel impossible. 

My background

After graduating with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and working with children and families in a variety of settings, I was hired as a Forensic Interviewer at a CAC in Portland, Oregon. I fell in love with the work and the team approach. Most of all, I was inspired by the strength and courage of the children we served, and humbled by their willingness to trust us to help them. 

Over the past three decades, I've served in a number of capacities at local, state, and national levels, including:

-- Executive Director, CARES Northwest

-- Director of Strategic Initiatives and Development, National Children's Alliance

-- Grant Fund Coordinator, Oregon Department of Justice Crime Victim and Survivor Services Division

-- Board of Directors, National Children's Alliance

-- Board of Directors, State Chapter of Oregon's CACs

-- Multnomah and Washington County Child Abuse MDTs

-- Oregon Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Intervention Advisory Council
